The Cedi has served as Ghana’s sole legal tender and a symbol of economic sovereignty since its introduction on 19th July 1965, replacing the Ghanaian Pound. On 19th July 2025, the Cedi proudly marked its 60th anniversary.
To commemorate this significant milestone, a series of events have been scheduled to be held throughout the year. The official celebrations kicked off with a major launch ceremony held on Tuesday, 28th October 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Management and staff of Bank of Africa Ghana were present for the celebrate this remarkable occasion. The event showcased the Cedi’s historic journey through a forum and an exhibition by financial institutions and affiliates.
The BOA-GH booth focused on the Cedi’s resilience, telling a story of how it has grown stronger over the years, shaped the Ghanaian economy and promises a valuable future. We also took the opportunity to emphasize our continued commitment to supporting women and promoting businesses for sustainable economic growth.
