Ghana Credit Excellence Awards – Bank Of Africa Ghana Is SME Bank Of The Year-2024

Bank of Africa Ghana has been adjudged SME Bank of the Year 2024 at the 6th Ghana Credit Excellence Awards. The award recognized the Bank for promoting the sustainable growth of businesses in the SME sector, notably, the establishment of a dedicated Women’s Desk in its branches with innovative credit packages for women-led business. The Awards Gala which took place on October 9, 2025, at the Amissah-Arthur Hall of the National Banking College was organized by the Chartered Institute of Credit Management Ghana.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Abderrahmane Belbachir, Managing Director  for BOA Ghana, remarked that, “Small and Medium Enterprises are the backbone of our economy and over the years, Bank of Africa has demonstrated its dedication to this sector through the Bank’s SME Support Facility (SSF), impactful financial literacy training in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and close engagements with members of the Ghana Union of Traders (GUTA), to mention a few.

These initiatives provide an anchor for businesses to scale-up, increase profitability and achieve sustainable growth.”

The prestigious SME Bank of the Year 2024 award is an affirmation of Bank of Africa Ghana’s unwavering dedication to empowering the Small and Medium Enterprises sector; thus, we dedicate the award to all our customers and partners in the sector.

Some dignitaries in attendance at the event include Hon. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana.  Mrs. Evelyn Osei-Tutu, FCICM, President of CICM Ghana as well as representatives of various financial institutions. Bank of Africa Ghana was represented by Mr. Abderrahmane Belbachir, Managing Director and Madam Fatoumata Gakou Deputy Managing Director.
