Bank of Africa Ghana sponsors award at Jack Ma Africa Netpreneur Initiative Conference

Bank of Africa Ghana has been in partnership with the SDGs Advisory Unit in the Office of the President to carry out initiatives and programmes to raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and also promote a society of sustainable thinking.

To further demonstrate this commitment, BANK OF AFRICA Ghana sponsored an award at the maiden edition of the Africa Netpreneur Initiative Award (ANPI) organized by the SDG Advisory Unit in the Office of the President and the Jack Ma foundation in November, 2019.

Present at the event was the President of the Republic of Ghana, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Jack Ma, the Cofounder & Chairman of the Alibaba Company and Jack Ma Foundation and the 21st richest man in the world, His Excellency Ban Ki-Moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations, Li Lianjie, better known by his stage name Jet Li, the famous Chinese film actor and producer  and Naomi Campbell, the renowned British model

ANPI is a lead initiative of the Jack Ma Foundation spearheaded by Jack Ma

The objective of the event was to support and encourage the next generation of African entrepreneurs who desire to create a more sustainable and inclusive economy for the future.

The nominees for the Award consisted of African Startup businesses who are building a more sustainable and inclusive future to help lead Africa to the next stage of its development.

The specific award sponsored by Bank of Africa was the ”África Innovates for the SDGs” competition launched by H.E the President of the Republic in 2018. We are delighted that amongst the winners of this Award was a Ghanaian Social Innovator who uses recycled plastics to produce pavement bricks for commercial use.
